About the Academy

The Academy of Business Leaders was established in 2013 with the intent of supporting aspiring business leaders with accredited programmes that could help them develop core management techniques to drive better results in their organisation. We wanted to develop their ability to lead, motivate and inspire.

Over the past four years we have seen the academy grow in becoming a force in developing and running accredited programmes ranging from Leadership and Management, Sales, Marketing, Coaching & Mentoring, Leadership and Organisational Behaviour to HR and Employment Law.

Other executive programmes such as Advanced HR and Employment Law, Law for Directors and Managers and Law for Recruiters also form part of our growing portfolio and include sectorial specialisations that are specifically aimed at chief financial officers and financial service organisations.

This scheme refunds the student up to 100% of the fees paid or up to €10,000 whichever is the smaller amount.  This scheme is available for tertiary education.

The refunds that a student gets depend on the amount of tax he/she pays and therefore the refunds may spread over a number of years until the entire amount has been refunded.

Application for this scheme is done through filling in the RA14 form and attaching it to the Tax Return form the year after the course is finished.  The total amount is to be listed in box 19F of the Tax Return Form.   Application can be downloaded here.

This scheme gives back students up to 70% of the total fees paid for the course in tax credits.  A refund is sent to the student as per the scheme’s rules, regulations and conditions since tax is deducted at source in most cases.

The amount of refund given cannot be higher than the amount of tax paid by the applicant for a particular year.  This means that the refund may be spread over a number of years until the whole 70% has been refunded.  A student may apply for the GET QUALIFIED scheme up to one year from the starting date of the course unless scheme’s conditions state otherwise.

Further information about the Get Qualified Scheme can be found here.

  • “The Msc in Leadership and Organisational Behaviour programme has been an awesome journey with very great and professional people. I enjoyed every step of it. I also enjoyed being a student as it is very interesting. The Master’s programme has helped me to grow and develop my knowledge, abilities and skills. It has also helped me advance in my teaching career as today, I am part of the senior management team.”

Marice Galea – Assistant Head and Teacher

  • “I chose the MSc in Leadership and Organisational Behaviour because the course provided flexibility for working mothers like me.  The highly qualified lecturers, well equipped infrastructure, course curriculum and teaching style have greatly enhanced my career.  I am now better able to evaluate issues and make important decisions at work.  I am very thankful to the Academy of Business Leaders and would strongly recommend the course to anyone.”

Loran Calleja – Assistant Director, Human Resources People Management and Development

  • “The DCU programme has been a great experience so far. It has given me the opportunity to maintain my work commitments but also manage to study an area I love on a part-time basis. When it came to selecting a Master’s programme the biggest issue I faced was that most within the Organisational Psychology field are either based overseas which was not an option for me, or programmes delivered via correspondence, which I knew would not work for me. The way in which the DCU programme is structured, with experienced professionals and professors flying to Malta to deliver lectures in their field is brilliant. The quality of the material is great, giving you a very good balance of theory and practical examples. To top it all off, the students’ diverse backgrounds make for very interesting discussions during lectures. It has been a great experience so far and I would certainly recommend it to anyone looking to read for a Master’s Degree in a related area.”

Lara Camilleri – Recruitment Manager – Finance & Legal, Konnekt
